The important question is not whether the 25R or 30Q looks stronger on paper. You need to know what the cell will actually have to do.

What Changes in a Battery Pack?

Do not treat the 25R and 30Q as drop-in replacements based on size and voltage alone.

Both use the 18650 format and both have a nominal voltage of 3.6V, but they differ in capacity and continuous discharge rating. Before substituting one for the other, check the following.

Current Requirement

Find out how much current each cell may need to supply.

If the application can require more than 15A continuously from one cell, the 30Q does not meet that requirement based on its continuous discharge rating.

Terminal Style

The versions we sell use flat-top terminals.

If your equipment requires a button-top cell, an 18650 flat top may not make proper contact even though the basic cell format looks correct.

Protection Requirements

Check whether the device or pack expects a protected cell or already provides the required battery protection.
